Minifeeds

This page contains the Minifeeds I've written.

What are Minifeeeds?

Minifeeds are quick and hopefully short update on my life. The content includes recent things and thoughts on recent things.

Note: This thing is un-subscribable, I deem this too personal to be boardcasted. Running into updates on accident brings more joy, right?

Minifeeds

  1. 17/09/2026 Intellectual Boringness

I can't believe I wrote six minifeeds since I came to Uppsala. Time flies.

I might have run into too many side quests: two game jams, a crush, a trip to Stockholm, or a journey to cure early depression symptoms. Either I got old and lost the slow perception of time, or time always fly faster when you wish something to happen tomorrow.

Why are they side quests though? What if my entire philosophy shenanigan is also a side quest? Anyway, I digress.

I have a Ukulele practice due tonight supposedly. But the urge to write has grasped me tightly. It would go to waste if I don't write anything at all. So, this minifeed has become a duty to me.

I have a friend that I appreciate and also very fond of mentioned their ADHD experiences. They described experiences as boring, depressing, as the peak of anti-motivational. Everything bores them to death, so they would usually end up lying on the sofa for the entire day.

I like this notion of "everything bores", especially in the interpersonal relationship. I name this thing intellectual boringness.

I shall add an illustration from my friend back in China who complained about one of their not-so-close friend being boring. His account roughly goes like this: I'm so bored. Bored in the sense that there is nothing to do, there is nothing worthy to talk about. The reason why I don't want to talk about anything is because everything is so normal and predictable. I want to leave so bad.

I personally strive to stay away from that state. I don't want to be the cause of that boringness nor do I want to experience that, because this bores me to death as well.

There is a lot of things going on, but as a pre-evolved philosopher, I think there are some questions need to be addressed. Namely:

    1. What the heck is intellectual boringness?
    2. Does intellectual boringness exist?
    3. If so, what is implied by its existence?

But because of the scope and my soberness at 12 am, I will only attempt to answer the first question and also fail to provide a sufficiently good answer.

I want to say that intellectual boringness is an evaluative property sufficient to make people feel boring as an emotion.

Note 1: Is there any paper arguing about the metaphysics of boringness? Is it more of a mood or emotion? But in our case, since there is an intentional object for feeling boring, I think we can treat it as an emotion.

Note 2: this maybe a circular argument in the sense that x needs to be intellectual boring to make one feel boring. But at the same time, for one to feel boring, x needs to be intellectual boring. Anyway, it's 12 am. I will come back to this matter when I have more time and will write about this somewhere that is not a minifeed.
